How to Apply a Pencil Eye Liner

Properly applied eye liner will help you define your eyes so that they look tip top perfect. But if you do not apply it properly, it will turn your look upside down, from great to BAD.

Follow these steps to apply an eye liner properly.

1- Start by choosing the right color for you. Brown and black are good in general but black is more preferable if you have dark hair. Charcoal is also nice and goes well with everything. Test and check which colors work best for your.

2- If the pencil si too hard and waxy, warm it up a bit using your fingers or some hot water. This will get the pencil to flow better.

3- Sharpen the pencil properly and start applying the liner on the upper lid. When finished, the pencil’s tip would have smoothed out a bit making it perfect for lower lid application.

4- Place the tip of the inner corner as close as possible to the eye lash line. Follow the line all the way to the outer corner. As you get close to the outer corner , press hard to make the line thicker and darker.

5- Connect the top and bottom lines on the outer corner of the eye, but not on the inner corner. If you connect the lines on the inner corner, your eyes will look smaller.

6- Double check to make sure the lines are even and properly blended. You can use the tip of a small brush to even things out.

Best Place to Test Foundation Color

On which place of your body do you match the foundation color? Usually gals test it on the neck, jaw, or inner wrist. But these places are not the best.. here is why.

If you match on your inner wrist, you are way wrong. The inner wrist has large veins and does not get sun light exposure. So the tone of the skin on your inner wrist cannot be compared with the one on your face.

The neck is not an ideal place either. Your head drops shadows on your neck and therefore it does not get enough sun light. The tone of skin on the neck also contains much less pigment than the the face.

Also, the jawline does not work for everybody. For some people, the jawline appears and causes different shadows that might be lighter or darker than the rest of the face. The difference is not huge, but why take risks ?

Beauty experts advice to test foundation on your chest just below the neck. This way your face will look consistent with the rest of your body. This of course assumes that your chest is usually exposed to sun light. If you are a conservative, you can match the color to the outer arm which is usually exposed to the sun in similar amounts as your face.

Great Looking Eye Brows

Follow these steps to achieve great looking eye brows:

1- Brush your brows from the down side up, then use scissiors to trim the hair that is a bit too long

2- Use a ruler or any straight object to make sure that your inner corner of the eye is in line with the inner side of the brow.

3-Move the ruler to the middle of the eye (where your iris is when you are looking Straight forward). Make sure that the center of the eye brow arc is in line with the iris.

4- The end of the eye brow, the outer corner of your eye, and the tip of your nose should form a straight line. You can line the tip of your nose with the outer corner of the eye to determin where your eye brow should end.

5-You can use an eye brow brush to make your brows look nice and tidy. You can also use an eye brow gel to hold the hair in place.

Smokey Eye

Here is a step by step tutorial on how to apply a smokey eye

1- Use an eye liner and apply generous amounts on the top lashline. Follow that by applying a similar amount on the lower lashes. When applying the eye liner , always start wtih the outer corner of the eye.

2- Use a pencil brush to spread, blend and smudge the eye liner. Then apply a dark liner inside the rim of the eye.

3- Apply a dark eye shadow and blend it with the dark eyeliner you have just applied around the eye.

4- Use a soft and fluffy bruch to apply a light eyeshadow. Blend the light eyeshadow layer with the dark eye shadow layer.

5- Continue with applying the light eye shadow up the lid of the eye. Try to apply ligh shades of your color as you move up the eye-lid and away from the eye.

6- With a smokey eye look, you are going to need plenty of mascara. Apply mascara on both yuour upper and lower lashes with at least two coats. Then separate the lashes with a lash comb.

HOW TO APPLY EYE SHADOW

You will find below some useful tips on how to apply eye shadow.

1- Always start by applying a foundation over your face. Foundation gives you a good base to work with. Do not over do it however; keep it light and gentle.

2- Then, start applying an eye shadow primer over your eye from the lash to the eyebrow. A primer will help the shadow last longer and minimize the number of application daily.

3- Use an eye shadow to apply the MEDIUM shade from your eye lashes to your eyelid's outer corner.

4- Use a pencil eyeliner to mark the eye just above your upper lash. Move from the inner cornet to the outer corner slowly

5- Use the brush and go over the area where you applied the eye liner to diffuse the color just a little bit

6- To make your eyes look deep, apply the dark eye shadow on the outer corner of the eye lids.

 

7- On the eyebrow bone use the light color to highlight your eyes and make them shiny and beautiful.

8- Also apply the light eye shadow from your eye lashes to the outer corner of the eye at the center of the eye lids.

9- Blend the color a little bit so that there are no hard lines

10- Apply Mascara to your upper and lower eye lashes to finish the great look
